Briggs OHV & Vanguard / 44 intek rich at idle
« on: August 24, 2017, 01:51:51 pm »
hello i have a 44 intek with a cheetah cam, dual valve springs, arc rods and flywheel ,heads cut 60 and ported and polished. it has a nikki two barrel carb with the low sides drilled to .030 with adjustable main jet.  it runs really good above idle but it runs real rich at idle. at idle for only 10 seconds it is blowing black smoke and engine starts to shut off. i can clear it out and it runs good  i was wondering if my timing could be off . i used the search but didnt help much. i can lean the high side down and it will clear up but then it wont accelerate it bogs when i give it fuel  any ideas .thank you

« on: February 12, 2013, 02:04:39 pm »
I was reading one of your old post about walbro carbs i have a 8 hp briggs with a walbro 56 with the adjustable high side  it has a arc flywheel and a precision cam my problem is it is really hard to start when cold it will spit and cough after spinning and spinning it will finally start the timing is all the way negative i cant really pay 250 for a carb from ec. there is nowhere near me to race anyway i just play with it every once in a while its just so hard to start george tells me i need to fatten up the low side but i cant find out how to do it im no stranger to small engines i have been racing gocarts all my life but this one has got me stumped any help would be appreciated                 Thanks  Bud Chitwood
