That's what I've heard...it's addicting.  I've been driving mini sprints for the last 10 years so gonna be a big change. But wanna race something after my best friend and car owner passed away last year. The car was sold by his family. And when the economy tanked our local track went from 100+ cars on race day to maybe 30, I need a change. I can already say the family atmosphere and the willingness to help new guys by veterans has impressed me. So thanks to all that have helped with the stupid questions I've had to ask.😆

Me personally I want a 700 and live axle but don't have cash for that I have the 930 and it's free, and since it's my first race mower i might only make 2 races next season if I'm lucky. So figured I'd at least race a time or 2 before deciding to putting  a couple of grand in one and not like it.

Update after getting 24 years of dust dirt and grease off I found the label peerless 930 004a, and by the amount of results I got in search for  930 vs a 920 I'm guessing this is a better transaxle.

I have a peerless 920 from a john deere stx 30. Problem is I can't get the factory wheels off. Snap ring removed, can of pbv blaster on each side and beat the wheels with a dog biscuit for a while and they will not budge. I don't have a puller big enough,  or a cutting torch, what do I do?

What would make the difference in how it rolls? Bearing quality? or just the shaft diameter itself? First build so just tring to under stand.

Coffee Shop / 3/4 live axle help
« on: October 30, 2014, 06:18:25 pm »
Just a quick question.  I can get solid 3/4 keyed stock, bearings and locking collars free from work. Just wondering if this will be strong enough to hold up under a G/P with a b&s 15.5? Just wanting input hate to find out the hard way:-[

Can anyone give me any clue to what this mower is and if it's worth building. Got it free a couple of neighbor hood kids were playing with it til it stopped running. They painted everything. ..notice the white walls...lol. but what I'm asking motor transaxle etc. Good or bad thanks in advance.  Model # 13am662f765.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Got on youtube and been watching some videos kinda re sparked my fire. I guess I'll start back building soon as I can find some wheels and tires that I can afford to get this heavy beast off the bench and on the ground. Once again thanks,  y'all stopped me from doing something I would have probably regretted later on.
