Tecumseh Engines / Re: 691 case
« on: July 27, 2009, 11:59:17 am »
Believe it or not the bolts came out of the bottom of the rod and sent the bottom thru the side of the engine.  I am tearing it down this week and will bring it into Polaris Industries to see if they can patch the hole.  The hole is about 1.5" long and 1" wide.  Crazy.

This was a governed engine too.

Seems mine top 1/2 case has a hole in it  :woo:  Anyone have a top and bottom case for a 691 they want to get rid of?

Well it looks like I will not be able to make we.  Our family is getting together for a camping weekend with friends and I would hate to try split us up.  I would have loved to make it to the race this weekend, but family comes first  ;)

I hope everyone has a great time....

Yep, not clear rules i guess..  If you were not at the rules meeting you wound not understand what they wanted.  Just like the protruding exhaust, most of the guys racing have exhaust protruding out the side of the mower.  The rules was made to keep the exhaust from sticking up in the air was what I was told..

I guess you can say that the group is new to rules and is trying to keep it fair for everyone and keep others from coming in and running a mower that does not look like the stock ones there.  I will say that I had fun running my mower in Roseau.

We will have to see what the family says about Bagley before I decide to go there or Karlstad next weekend.

Oh, and i have no 820 transaxles.  I would also build a stock mower for here if I was not going to build am FX Mod :D

I don't think there was a mis-communication, there was just nothing in the rules that I got about where the rear axle could go and believe me I asked many times..

Oh well, it was fun running non the less.  If you need any help or parts let me know soon.  I am getting rid of all the extra stuff I do not need this week.  I might not have anything you need but it doesn't hurt to ask.  I have a 600 housing that I am going to give to Kirby, sounds like he could use a few extra

I did send Shane the address to the site to let him know about it and to get this info out to the guys, but I have not seen anything come from him yet.  But then again there has been a few e-mails sent out without me copied on them ;)

It was fun to race with you on Friday Jon.  I sure wish I would have received the 'Full' rule list that I was told about on Friday before I built a mower to race with you guys.  I have the front all fixed up now and ready to really give Kirby a run now :D

lvine2001,

We already have a race scheduled that day so won't likely be able to make it, but appreciate the invite. Hope the event goes well.

Jon (rjswen)

Yep, I forgot about the Moose Fest too  and I work in Karlstad......  I might have to rethink this now

Any chance you, or any of your guys will come to Bagley Aug 9th?

I don't think that any of the lowers up here would make a legal USLMRA mower.

Well then, here is your mission, should you choose to accept it.....

More than likely you will love the BP and leave it as is.
Build up second chassis for the 44 CID oppo and race it as a CP Keep the 17ohv as a spare.
Build up one more for the 28 flatty and you will have an SP (or an IMOW) as well.

I think you will find that, racing mowers is fun but one class at each event will just not be enough.

I think my next build will be an FX Mod.  I want to go with a cent clutch.  I already have all the pictures printed and at the shop to build one but right now I want to make sure I have everything finished with my first one.  A CP build would be fun too  :)

I have a V-Twin in there right now.  I will run it this weekend and see how I like it.  I also have a 44CID opposed, 17HP OHV and a 28CID flatty I can stick in this one so who knows what class for sure at the US races.  I want to race the BP class as I am used to good speed and power on the track when I raced snowmobiles, but I don't think I can get my mower 25' in the air  :woo:

You wont see me racing without the safety equipment.  AND I will have 2 hands on my steering wheel at all times, unless I am doing the famous 'George one handed Wave' after the win  :D
