anything to with steering if your going over 6mph needs to be redone plain and simple next is your brakes those little transaxle brakes are no good stop you once then there fried get yourself a good axle disc brake set up hydraulic 6" rotor. the faster it goes the lower and wider you want it you don't want fun to turn into a trip to the emergency room. don't sacrifice safety for looks. a 31ci motor will make all the power you want your 10 yr old to be in control of and then some if you touch the governor change the flywheel I however would just do some gearing on it stock motor you could gear for 30mph and still have decent off the line power. the stock tranny I would pitch mainly because its harder to widen out reliably I would go with a stout peerless 820 trans axle the are very robust and can take a beatin

The saying goes there is no replacement for displacement so the little engine may be able to rev faster but your not gonna build the hp and tq of the bigger ci motor so if you don't weigh to much and your machine is light as possible and built perfect get chassis tuned in you can run with them if races are not one strictly on how big your motor is driving skills have to be there. If your just starting out in this sport this motor will be a fine starter motor and will still plant you in the seat when built correctly. Look in the links section for websites that have your go fast parts for that engine
