Thanks Tom. I just ordered a .0310 drill from ENCO. I will try it and see how it goes. It's a #68, 0.0310", 5/16 flute and -1/4" OAL. ENCO # 337-3239. The idea is to drill it through the top without dismantling the whole carb and intake. I bought more but will start with that drill

That engine should run at least 3650 and be reliable. That's what they are set from the factory. I don't see why you couldn't get it closer to 3800-3900 without a problem. The only issue I can see with a modified engine is they are built to hit max rpm and then come back down. Performance engines were never meant to hold high rpm. As long as you can get the Rev limiter to work using 2 coils, I would leave the governor intact.

I need to drill out the low side and I can't seem to fit the welders drills in there? Drilling from the top the drills are too short, drilling from the bottom the emulsion tubes and float/needle holder is in the way.. what am I missing?

You don't have time to watch a tach anyways!
I agree and dont plan on watching it. Ive repaired one digitron tach already and ive got another that will probably have to be sent off to have it repaired also. Ive got a nice 3" autometer tach with a max recall button that ive had for 3 years that I ran in an off road vw Beatle for over a year and works great. Just thought would work just as good as the repaired tachs that I have to keep sending in. Plus analog tachs look cool  8) hahaha

Hey guys, thought I would give an update to this engine build. Got the engine running and it ran great all season long. I was really surprised but I did have one issue.  Second to last race of the season the top rod bolts came loose and it started hammering.  Took it off the track and we found the rod bolts were loose  but it ran great up to then. Building the pressure lube oppy up with billet rods and avs pistons for this year :-)

Since the inteks have 2 coils why not just run 2 wires off of both coils with diodes on both. That should double the signals on both coils and make the tach think its a 4 cylinder. There's electrical diagrams floating on the web that I have came across.
