Title: Black Wheels
Post by: Shannon Quinn on February 27, 2011, 12:45:05 pm
Does anyone know of a vendor that sells 8" black powder coated wheels?  I've found that Turk Bros. sell 6" Van K wheels for the front, but I can't seem to find anyone selling 8's for the back.

If you don't mind running steel, you may be able to find some golf kart wheels in black, or you could paint them.

You can powder coat aluminum to match your fronts. Check with a Douglas wheel dealer, like Ryker Racing, to see what is available.

Thanks guys.  After looking around some more, I may have to reconsider running the black 6" Van K's on all four corners.  For $23 a  piece, its hard to beat that.

I just bought 2 pounds of powder to coat my new Douglas wheels. A friend of mine does it. The color is a secret till my build gets further along.

All done and mounted up. Thanks to amr5080 for the tires.

I was thinking the same thing. Look cool but might defeat the purpose of aluminum wheels. Might have been better to anodize them.

Less then a pound of powder to coat all four. It might have added maybe 2oz per wheel.
Bought 2lbs from http://www.powderbuythepound.com/home.php (http://www.powderbuythepound.com/home.php) and my friend was kind enough to clean, outgass, blast, clean and coat them for me. The picture does them no justice how bright they are and nice they look.

Powder goes a lot farther than paint.  When my frame got done it only took 3 pounds...
