Honda and Clone Engines / Carburetor return spring help?
« on: February 12, 2015, 04:28:45 pm »
I have a Mikuni carburetor off of a Honda four wheeler. It has the cable going right in on top. No place to add a return spring. I like to make sure it passes ULMRA tech inspection.

Coffee Shop / Survey! What class you running this season?
« on: February 06, 2015, 05:31:42 pm »
I have never been to a national race yet. I am wanting to race at lease two national races. But I don't want show up to the track with a FX mower and no one is there to race with.

My survey is please reply with what class you running this year. And which tracks you are going to race at.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks Everyone!

I been working on small engines sents 1989 and I always recomend changing the oil at lease once a year. But also relpaceing air, oil, and fuel filters.

Funny story,
I work at the Fix-it-shop about 10 years and a lady drop off her riding mower and said " It just stop running while I was cutting my one acre yard." She also told me that it has a two year warranty on the engine. So after checking the mower found it had no oil in engine and was lock up. I called the customer and told her it was not warranty. She got mad. I ask her why she didn't check the oil before cutting. She was told by the saleman at the local chain store that it is maintenance free and no maintenance was requried. She complain to the local chain store and they give her a new mower. But she come back to us and I show her how to check and keep her mower in good shape.  Now she come back ever year.

Coffee Shop / Just need to know before I build my Mower to class spec?
« on: January 31, 2015, 09:42:29 pm »
I was going to  talk to Jim about this but can't seem to find him and he might not be up to date on all the rules.

I am an old go kart racer and done some lawn mower racing. I started racing in 1994 (go karts) and won my first track championship in 1995 at Pensacola Raceway. Drove karts until 1999 and my friend/co-worker Jim Witt talk me into building a lawn mower racer. I drove until the local track in Pensacola close down around 2005.

I like to get back into it but would like to build a lawn mower that will pass inspection with a national race. But most important is the "driver eligibility". My mower is a mid frame FX class mower. If I show up to a national race, will I be turn away because I don't have a year running in a prepare class with USLMRA. Or should I build the mower for AP class? I don't want to spend a lot of money for track officials to say I can't race it. I can build the mower to USLMRA rules, FX or AP. Just want to get correct information before I start.

I look on facebook, twitter,  and google +.  His last facebook post is 2013 so I don't think he uses it. I also found a phone that was listed to him, but disconnect.  Also drove by the last place I know he work at.  No luck.

Newcomers / New Guy, but not new to racing.
« on: January 29, 2015, 09:25:57 am »
I have been racing since 1994. Started with go carts. (Very expensive) I won points championship in 1995 and raced til 1998. Started racing lawnmowers in 1999 after a local friend talk me into it.(Jim Witt) I raced in Pensacola until the local track closed down. The closest track to me is 100 miles away but now I am going to get my mower out and race ready. I want to race in the national race this year in Foley AL. Like a little input from anyone about what class I could run at Nationals? The mower I have now is a Mid engine chassis. Old Mustung mower. I was thinking AP class?
Also I need to know about driver eligibility for the national race. Can I race in it? Any information would be great.

Hope to see ya'll on the track.
