Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Re: still running bad
« on: April 25, 2009, 09:15:26 am »
I had to take my carb off 2 or 3 times before i got it working right..man there are some small holes that dirt can get into..back in high school our teacher had us take the carb apart and let it sit in varosol (miss spelled?) over night. then blow it out with an air hose.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Re: Briggs sputtering at high revs

i was having reb issues also to day on my mower, when it sits in its notch at full throttle it would sputter, when i backed off just a little it ran fine and sped up .so i toke off the air filter and noticed that my choke was almost closed, it was sticking, got that fixed by just moving the rod that connects the choke and what u know ,alls fine now back to normal.

ok ill try that, i ran the story by my brother -n-law today and he said like one of the jets is clogged up,the gas filter was all stop up on race day and i had to poke a  hole in the filter so the gas would flow, didnt have time to really mess with it, missed the heat laps and it was time for the main event, got it on the track and it died,  i guess some of the trash  got into the carb, man thats a long way to push a mower back to the pits and embarrassing....lol

which transmissions is the fastest out there? i know yall talk highly of the peerless trans. but the foote is faster than the spicer,. we are held back rules stating that the pulleys must be 5.5 on the front and 6 on the trans. thre is no cart axles allowed. he finshed dead last with the spicer and bout  3rd with the foote but its still not fast enough.and allso which is faster taller tires or smaller tires? they cannot be taller than 18 inches.  thanks for the advise.  yall are very smart about such stuff, were just learning, and any help is appreciated.

we have ran a spicer 2times both 5 speeds and  a foote 3 speed the rest of the races, the spicer is lots slower than the foote. but the foote is starting to push now after bout 7 or so races.

Briggs Flathead / flywheel mods.
« on: July 07, 2008, 04:28:38 pm »
hi guys, this is my first post and  love the site, learned lots so far. i was at 1 of my local tracks this past sat. and 1 guy told me to take the flywheel  and have it ground down like u would a brake drum to make it lighter. i know from what i read on here that its dangerous to mod the flywheel and i was wondering if anybody has heard of anybody doing this? thanks and keep up the good work.
