Hello,
I have an OHV17 204606B with a series 7 carb 640072
After pulling my mower out, I noticed my float bowl had a chunk of plastic broke out of it where the fuel solenoid mounts. I took the bowl off and epoxied the chunk back in just to get it started for the year.
It started right up, however, it wouldnt run over 1/3 throttle and was spraying fuel out my hood stack pipe. Upon removing the air filter, there was fuel in the bottom of the air intake. So I figured it was a stuck float. Upon removal, however, the float works good and can shut off flow. I need to see if the float is cracked and is filling up with fuel. Anyway, I want to replace the float bowl assembly 730639.
BUT, Ive found two kinds of replacement kits. One has a brass emulsion tube. Another has the plastic blue emulsion tube. Mine has the blue plastic emulsion tube.
Which one should I use? Blue plastic or brass?
Or should I just forget this carb and replace it with another one that is a bolt on replacement, like an older non emissions carb?
Thanks guys, this forum is so helpful!
