you need to have 12 volts to anti back fire valve. that's why jumping starter wont work. put a good battery in and try it.

Ok I will give it my best shot here but here is what I see. You have the axle mounted on a bearing that can rotate 360 degrees when you hit the brake real hard the rotor locks and pulls forward and because the mount for bearing is not really that strong being a piece of bent flat bar it twisted to the side as brakes were applied. I'm not sure I fully understand what I just wrote but Mark or Ed might.

I do not believe that if a national organization like nascar or nhra didn't recognize its winners it would not be around very long. I respect your opinion but we will still give trophies and recognize winners as we always have.

3 for every class in all four regions (120) and the 3 each class for the national champions (120+30=150 total) plus special awards it adds up quick and if anyone sells trophies and wants to throw a bid bring it. Like I said put yourself in the shoes of the sanctioning bodies and think about it all the way through the year.

Go to the top menu and click links and then aftermarket parts. If you can't find everything you need there then you don't need it. And to answer the build question the build threads cover all your questions about chassis also. READ READ READ its all here. I would say just starting out you wont need front brakes or hoosier tires so don't buy them.

Carl I can tell you this the closest national points race to me is 9hrs one way and I never even thought about tow money. We have a team with around 20 mower now and trying to move that many machines around the country is a very difficult task. I have worked on the board for ARMA now for two years and what you describe as getting good money for events I can tell you at the end of the year in this economy only pays the bills. We have worked very hard to get to a point to be able to help racers more but It just doesn't happen easy. We welcome any input you may have Carl on how to fix this. Step back for a moment and put yourself in the shoes of the folks running the shows and think about the cost. I will give you an example trophies alone for just the end of the year banquet for championships are over $8000 so what you might see as simple math by show there are larger cost being covered in the end. This is my 2 cents and we can argue about this all day there are racers who think that the sanctioning bodies are loaded. I can assure you its not the case.

Tom I'm with Steve I have built over twenty mowers and all of them are welded both sides. And anytime they had to come out it was cause they were bent. So like Steve said your cutting it anyhow.

You can in ARMA with parents consent at ARMA insured events. A parent must be present when racing. Local tracks may have different rules and maybe a USLMRA a person will answer your question also.

Sorry tank I missed the small L in front of the 111. Your right the frame rails one will be much easier then the old style 111.

A 111 is not a bad machine to build BUT I would not recommend it for your first build. Stay with a MTD box chassis or AYP box chassis these will be the easiest for you to complete and get plenty of help with. They are pretty easy to get a hold of for cheap or free and there are build threads that will help you step by step on here. :twocents:

If you are turning a stock 31 intek single with no performance parts 6000 rpm's the breather is not going to be the worst of your problems.    :twitch: these things blew up easy at stock rpm's in grass cutters. You should invest in a rod at the least and get rid of the weights they are the weak link in your chain.

I am going to go by your avitar and assume your a Briggs MST, I am as well. So i would believe your rebuild is solid. It has to be a simple thing you are over looking. Like a breather issue or something like that. Without any way to put our hands on it and look at it my opinion would be look at breather set up. Otherwise you need to do all the test they teach you in small engine repair to figure out the problem.  it shouldn't be to hard  to get a handle on this. Someone already suggested the compression and leak down test all part of basic small engine repair. Those two things will tell you almost everything you need to know. Or at least an area to recheck.

go to Ec website and go done to bottom of page on left and it has other links go to tech info and mower speed chart. It sounds close but your motor better be built for those straights.

If your oil level is right, your head gasket is not blown and you haven't monkeyed with the breather assembaly you should have no problem.  With that said the biggest reason to push that much oil out the breather is to much crank case pressure. That happens when you have more air being pushed out then being drawn into the crankcase. The most common thing is rings are plane worn out and when cylinder is in compression stroke the air pushing by the rings is creating a pressure in crank case instead of a vacume behind the piston. Then right after that on power stroke you are still in a pressuere mode. it has to be equal in and out of breather. On the intek singles the biggest problem can be a blown head gasket but I'm pretty sure you checked that when you did your oldschool tricks. First rule of thumb on small engines check head gaskets in my opinion.
