Heymow members hope everyone is doing well this last couple of weeks. Wanted to reach out and see if anyone has heard from Rocket Ron in a while? Spoke with him a couple of weeks ago however didn't sound real well! I've been calling for the last week or so however his cell phone has been off and Voicemail is not setup at this time. Please me know if anyone has any news please.

Kohler Engines / Advantages of billet crankshafts over steel crankshafts

Guys not sure of this has been gone over looking to find out the advantages of billet cranks versus steel crankshafts. Understandable that billet less weight so less rotating mass however how is the strength of the billet and reliability of having a billet crank setup, Seen a while back a billet crank fail on a motor not sure of this was unusual or a drawback because of setup timing and so forth. Please let me know ur thoughts on this subject.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Measuring for custom pushrods

Working on measuring and cutting my custom moly Pushrods for my motor not looking forward to cutting these as I don't want to make a mistake. Can anyone give me any ideas the best way to measure these correctly and cutting them so I know they will work out for me. Thanks up front for all the advice.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Ring set

I ordered a set of rings for my intek motor this week received these today and noticed that I received 2 of all the rings needed for the motor except, I only received one oil control ring for one side of the motor I would hate to wait another week for a new set. Can the oil control ring be reused or is this not work the time to skimp on a oil control ring guys? Thanks for ur expertise on this matter.

Guys,


Anyone have this carb on there intek v twin motor? If so the the 3 nipples on the carbs what are these for? Are the top 2 for Fuel and the bottom is that a vacuum? Please let me know what the proper setup is on this carb and what else is needed to adapt this to a intek with a aluminum intake. Thanks for all your help want to make sure i get all this is one order if i need more then just the carb here.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Auto Meter Jr Dragster Tach issue

Good evening Guys,

Got a issue here with a intek 44 motor ordered a brand new tach from auto meter atm-6650 designed for the briggs motors. Installed this per the instructions,

Red- to 12 volt source,
Black to ground
Green to trigger lead on the #1 cylinder also have a kill swtch attached with Diode's.

My issue is this i have gone through two wire harness with with the diodes attached directly from briggs in the last two weeks. Started blowing these out when i attached the new tach. Seems to work for 5 to 6 times of starting and stopping the motor till the diodes blow out. This causes the engine to short to ground and will not start. Any ideas would be great to help me resolve this issue.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Weak Spark on 44 intek

Hello Guys got a intek issue seems after the ARC flywheel has been installed the engine will now not fire. I have check the spark and it seems so weak that it will not fire with a spark plug attached i only found using a screwdriver and grounding this will show a very weak spark. Any suggestions are much appreciated here.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Bent Pushrods 44CID Intek

Hey Guys,

Got a 44CID intek here that i swapped the cams out for a precision billet cam just last weekend, When i reinstalled the push rods and reset the valve lash i noticed that on cylinder #2 the exhaust valve was bending when i turned the engine over. I noticed that these were aluminum push rods so i thought with the new cam might be a higher valve lift and causing the aluminum push rods to bend that steel push rods would be the fix. Anyhow ordered 4 brand new steel push rods from Briggs for the motor reinstalled the new push rods reset the valve lash, later i saw the same issue with the same cylinder bending the new push rods. Going to call precision cams on Monday but i thought i get some input from you guys first and see what you thought.

Chassis / Wiring Setup

Hey Guys just finishing up the build on the mower and starting on my wiring. This what i would like to do as i know it will take a bit more wiring but i think it will work let me know, Would like to use a push button start but also keep the key switch to have the capbility of killing power and starting the mower if push button is broken. Can i just jumper off the key switch to my push button and teathered kill switch? Let me know please.

Driveline / Finding the correct belt Size for a new mower

Just about ready to test the mower out on its maiden voyage. But First i will need to get a belt otherwise im not going far. Can anyone tell me the best way of measuring for the perfect belt. Thanks ahead of time guys for all the ideas.
