Title: May 24-25 STA-BIL Ellerbe, NC Nationals Memorial Day Weekend (Racing For Taylor)
Post by: Rex Crouch Jr 01 on January 29, 2014, 08:04:32 pm
Ok guys after over a year of hard work and planning we are proud to host a national race at Ellerbe Lions Club Speedway. This is not only a national race but a benefit race for my daughter Taylor Crouch. She was diagnosed with JRA(Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis) when she was two. She is now five. She is one tough little girl but it's a battle she will have to fight for the rest of her life. All donations will go to the JRA foundation. Ellerbe has a great clay track with the best crew around to make sure the track stays in perfect racing condition. You will race in front of hundreds of fans and be treated with true southern hospitality. At the track we also have a pond for fishing and a play ground for your kids. There is plenty of room for camping but no hook ups. Will post motels soon. We look forward to having all y'all here to race. Keep checking for more details to come. A tentative schedule is Friday May 23th the track will be open for anyone who wants to come and see the facility and drop your trailers. Saturday will be a night race as we have permanent lighting and Sunday will be an afternoon race. For any questions you can call me at 910-995-0750. Thanks. Rex crouch Jr.

We are extremely pleased and excited to be able to host this event. There is not a better group of racers anywhere to race with...very hospitable and friendly. Additionally...this is probably the best weekend weather wise all year. Generally very comfortable...warm but not hot. The race track itself is undergoing improvements as we speak. Chief Steward Kermit Perkins is hard working and is known for giving a great racing surface. The track itself is high traction, similar to the clay at the All American down in Stevenson Alabama. It is high speed, and virtually dust free. There are excellent permanant lights, as most racing in the Carolinas is at night due to the heat. With the large local group of racers...this event could easily be the highest attendance of the entire year. We hope yall will go ahead and pencil this one in on your racing calender. It will be here before you know it.

Work is progressing nicely...Chief Steward Kermit Perkins is spreading many loads of very good clay...super tacky, and holds moisture very well. Traction is NEVER an issue here.

A quick update....Work is progressing nicely at the track..Chief Steward Kermit Perkins has been working dilegently  as time is getting shorter. The tracks regular racing season starts late in March. There are several local races scheduled before the Ellerbe Nationals, so you should  come race with us and get a leg up on the competition by getting familiar with the racetrack and meet the competitors. Yall will never race with a better group of guys. Additionally..there has been a great response to this race and  folks are coming from far and wide to compete. We look forward to seeing yall too!

Each race has a scheduled rain date a week later if inclement weather intervienes. Chief Steward Kermit Perkins makes the final decision to race by noon. He is known far and wide for his wizardry at making a wet track raceable.

Over the years the Crouches have been to many of my events. I helped them way back in the day get up and going in this sport. They have come a long long way from then. We have over the years developed a good friendship I feel. We may not call each other very often but when we do its like talking to family. They have for years tried to get me to come to Ellerbee. In the beginning I was a bit leary of the Lions Cage as it was called. The fence right on the track and the rubber base it had. I simply thought they were nuts running on that track. And now that they are having this race and its to benifit Taylor and others like her the time has come. I am a sucker for kids and this folks is for a great cause its helping kids. I am proud to announce that Herrin Mowersports that be me n Jake of and the wife and daughter too will be attending this event That will be two FXT's and a FXS!!! It may be the ONLY travel event we attend this year but for Taylor and those like her and to support the Crouches and all involved with this event I think its gonna be an event on the level of the ALL AMERICAN. SO if ya want to support a good cause or even stop by and say (HEY ITS ABOUT TIME you came by) then folks this is the event to be at. SEE YA THERE.

That's great news George. It is an excellent cause...and you will not meet a better group of people anywhere to race with. We feel like if all the planets and stars line up just right..the weather holds up...and everyone comes to race that has indicated they will come....this could possibly be one of the biggest races EVER! Chief Steward Kermit Perkins has done a great job with the track..and the only thing it needs...is racing on. I know the economy is tough..and travel is expensive..but we appreciate the efforts of everyone who is traveling to race with us from both nearby and far away. Take care and drive carefully!

Well said George. It's been along time coming and we look forward to having you come. It's going to be an awesome weekend with some of the best racers from across the country attending. I would like to tell everyone coming in on Friday we are having a corn hole tournament that evening. We are going to set the boards up on the track and play under the lights. There will be an entry fee to enter and cash prizes to the winner. This will also help us raise money for the JRA Foundation. We will have a band there and vendors will be set up also. More details to come. So plan on coming in on Friday and join in on the competition or just enjoy the fellowship.

Wow what a weekend. I want to personally thank each and every racer and team that came out to race and support this cause. To start with we had a great turnout for the corn hole tournament Friday nite. 18 teams. Had a blast. Great band with great friends and fellowship. Thanks to all that participated. Saturday was the longest day of my life. Lol. We had I think 128 mowers. There was some awesome racing in all classes. I think we finally finished up at 12:30 a.m. Sunday is still kind of foggy. Another day of great racing with some of the fastest mowers in the country. I want to thank Kermit and his crew for busting his tail all weekend to give us a great track to race on. The Lions Club for all they done. My wife and daddy for putting up with me through all this planning and organizing. I want to thank all my local racers for there help and support. To all of y'all who made contributions from buying shirts, stickers, bracelets, or just a donation. Thank you. The US done a great job all weekend. There are a few guys I want to call out. Mike Collins, Mike Elliot, and Joshua Plourde (The Blocker)and the whole New Hampshire crew. You guys traveled a long ways to get here and I really appreciate it. You guys are great. Collins I will get you. Lol. Chuck Miller you got me but I got your trophy! J mow and crew nothing but love. Derrick, Andy, and the whole phatbottom crew, king George, Hitch, the enormous Sullivan family, and to all thanks from the bottom of my heart. As of now we have raised $4500.00 to send to the JRA Foundation. Couldn't have done it with out y'all. So from my family to yours Thank You. Rich Webb it won't be the same not talking to you every day but I think I'll enjoy it. Lol.

Jr said it all the best. I am exhausted. Saturday night wore me out. Was a great weekend. Beat Mike once more in one of the best battles of all time I think. Was simply a  race you should have seen if you missed it. Everyone did a great job. I am sorry I didnt get to run Sunday. While sitting on the grid she went to one cylinder. BUT was goinna give it a run anyways but on the pace lap she shut off went to refire and it ripped the teeth off the flywheel. Course it was locked up LOL. A piece of broken seat hung it up. BUT heck after 5 seasons I reckon I got my moneys worth from them heads. So time to rebuild now!! See ya all at the ALL AMERICAN. Thanks to all for the great hospitality.
