The Kohler is very heavy, The Briggs has a not so great oiling system but more parts are available.  Ya got to pick your poison. If your looking for lots of parts and less money, OHV Briggs.

EC carb, ARC racing, also look on here. Guys are selling stuff all the time. That's a popular engine to race. They go by ci of the engine. You will find it on the blower housing, the first number is the cubic inch. The 17.5 Briggs should be 31ci.

You could try to get ahold of REDLINE, he drove for Burt, he might know. I know he pop's on here once and a while.

Paul, that makes since. I just have not messed with the 820, but have a bunch of time with the 700. I'll remember that.

That I'm not sure of, and I don't want to give not sure info. I have not heard that they are interchangeable but I have not run the 820 trans axle. When you call EC Carb ask them, they might know.

All the bores are the same, almost. There are a few 46ci blocks that are larger bore but they are rare. The strokes are different, there are 3 different ones, 40ci, 42ci, and 46ci. The piston pin height is all the same, the difference is made up in rod length. The 40ci has a closed chambered head (small cc) the 42ci is a little bigger and the 46ci is the biggest.

What kind of dimensions are you looking for? The service manuals have most everything you will need.

I also miss the good old days! The racing has slowed down and that's sad also!
