I want to save the engine, not vibrate it apart. I guess I will try one with out the counter weight and see what happens.

Now i am really confused. One says take out the counter weight and the crank needs to be rebalanced. One says just take out the counter weight, no re-balancing needed. I don't know what to believe?

take out the counter weight? That would be great if it worked. But wouldn't that throw the crank way out of balance?

Running a briggs 21HP 33 ci single cylinder with AVS and keep breaking the counter weight link. Turning the engine only 4500 RPM and still breaking the link. Any ideas on how to stop this from happening.
