Post by: CDNmower#9 on June 07, 2013, 05:14:15 pm
We replaced our super mod class with this.
another shot,   I had planned to have a build thread that I never got around to.  At the time it was called a Mini midget,   There are 10 built And we have raced 2 times.

The chassi doesn't have a brand name on it.  As far as I know it's different than anything out there.  they weigh about 350 lbs  without the driver and have around 30-35 Hp.

The only Right hand turn these can make is on the trailer getting to the track.... I have some video but can't get it to post.

The chassi is built from scratch.  Then we used the same parts we had on our super mod Tractors.  1 1/4" rear axle.  jack shaft set up.  steering is the same, front spindles very similar just used a different hub on the front to use 8" wheels.  Kirkey race seat.   still working on the race set up but our lap times are about the same as we were on the tractors,

Just curious but why is the beadlock on the left instead of the right?

The bead lock is on the left because I'm waiting for the 8 x 7 wheels I ordered, (The beadlock is the RR from my super mod lawnmower) it's an 8x8.  the LR and RF will both be 8X7 wheels (16X7.5X8 tires) so I put the bead lock on the LR to not make it be an advantage as it would be on the RF.  the RR is an 18X9.5X8 on 8x8  wheel.  Jeez I heard all the whining at the track about having a beadlock I didn't think anyone here would care lol.   With 5.5" of stagger it doesn't turn right unless it's on the trailer ;).    I'm surprised nobody has asked why the motor is on the right side.

don't have to run a jack shaft   Also the driver weights more then the motor

Pit guy has the right answer, The motor is about 40lbs and the driver is 200 + (well most of us are)  so the driver is off set to the left even with the frame rail.  We are using a jack shaft,

Im from upstate ny and I race a supermod in a local lawnmower organization. I'm trying to get people I race with to build something like these and race at local go kart tracks. Is it ok if we build something similer to what you built?

what is the cost for a rolling chassis

I'm not sure what they will cost,  I'll talk to the guy building them.  We would like to have everyone running the same sealed motors and spec rules so we could keep the costs reasonable and race together,  I'm sure if a group wanted 5 or more chassis you could put any motor you want on it.  you can find V-twin dirt demon on facebook   He's the "Guy"
