Driveline / Peerless 400 series diagram
« on: August 17, 2021, 07:55:46 am »
Does anyone have a copy of the exploded view for the 400 series transmission with the part number list or know how to find one?  The odref links in all the other treads about this on here no longer work...  Even if someone knows what mower the 400 series came in, i can try to look it up that way.  I found the 350 series diagram, but need the 400 series.  Thanks in advance

Kohler Engines / Turning down a 1-1/8" crankshaft question
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:18:32 pm »
From everything i have read on here, most people say that if you turn down the crank on a twin to 1" so a centrifugal clutch can fit on it, the crank will snap.  Why is that?  I only ask because i also read that a few of these engines had 1" cranks on them from the factory.  Whats the difference if the factory turned the shaft down to 1" or if a machine shop does it?

It seems the phone number i used to contact Ron 3 weeks ago is no longer any good.  Does anyone have a number besides 843-Five Three Seven-2594 that i can try using?  I need to know if my parts have shipped yet.  Thank you

Coffee Shop / Burnt crank/ connecting rod question
« on: August 23, 2014, 01:34:48 pm »
It seems my fit was too tight... the crank is chromolly and I would rather not have to purchase another if this is saveable.  Is this something i would have to have done at an automotive machine shop or is there a way to clean it up?  Or is this crank no good now?  I know the connecting rod is now a paper weight but im hoping its not the same story for the crank.  There arent any grooves or cuts in the crank, its just a some of the material from the connecting rod bearings is stuck to it

Coffee Shop / Helmet Cam Question
« on: January 04, 2014, 07:23:53 pm »
To everyone that uses a helmet cam while they race... How do you prefer to mount it, to your helmet or to the hood/body of the mower?

If you mount it to your mower, where do you mount it so there isnt too much bouncing around from bumps?

Coffee Shop / Ron's Rocket Parts Pistons
« on: January 23, 2013, 06:58:52 pm »
I have been trying to get a hold of Ron for a about a week now with no luck, trying to call a few times a day.  So i tried to find the piston he has for the 28 ci motor with a 0.6 compression height but cant find it.  does anyone know the part number for it?  The piston is for a 3.445 in bore, with a .49" wrist pin, and a 0.600" compression height.

Unless someone knows a better way to get a hold of him other than calling the number on his website???

Thanks

Coffee Shop / Build Table
« on: January 05, 2013, 11:47:37 pm »
I finally have some room for a work bench of some sort to build/work on my mowers on top of and would like some ideas of what people use.

What do you all build your mowers on?  Old table? Saw horses?  I found LC's table that he made ( http://www.heymow.com/index.php?topic=24748.0 ) which looks pretty cool, but havent seen much of anything else from searching.  Post a picture of what you use!!

« on: January 01, 2013, 11:26:05 am »
Is the the correct part number for the crankshaft on a AVS 28ci OHV engine 797579?

I dont have this engines specific model number but i found a model number 282H07-0334 E1 on another thread here and used that to look up the part.

Post Your Video / Senior Design Project - Turbo Jet Engine
« on: September 05, 2012, 10:24:56 pm »
Here is a video of me and my roommates Senior Design Project we did this semester.  We had to design, build, and test our project in our last semester of college.  The turbo we used is off of a first gen Cummins and the oil pump/blower is out of a oil furnace along with the electrode unit.  It cooks hotdogs very well too

Driveline / AP / Mini Sportsman Clutch Setup
« on: June 26, 2012, 02:39:32 pm »
I finished my AP build for this season and ran it this past weekend at my local clubs test and tune.  It ran and handles great but i was having a bear of a time starting from a stop.  No matter how slowly i let the clutch out, the belt would quickly grab and stall the engine even if i rev the engine a little more.

The clutch setup i have on it right now is just one idler pulley on an arm that puts tension on the belt.  Is this clutch set up what most people run on an AP or mini sprortsman because of the limited space and does yours engage quickly? Or are you able to fit the 2 pulley "T" type setup clutch in there?
