Yea I practice it because it has bit me. Yea I have done some dumb stuff but always been at home with no camera's. I look at all the racers as my family. and want them all to be safe especially the younger one's. Can replace a mower but not body parts.

Well for safety equipment I wear starting at my head, a Simpson helmet, kart neck brace that turns down my back like a hahns device for extra support, Kart abrasion resistant fire retardant one pice drivng suit with kart body armor under it. Protects the ribs and back bone and shoulder. Simpson gloves and driving shoes. Hit the pavement at 62 mph and walked away. SORE but walked away and didn't even rip the suit. 60+ kartwheel at Nationals last year knocked out but no injury's just SORE. I have broke my elbow but never knew anything was bad worng till 5 months later never missed arace either. Its when I slowed down after the season it really hurt. Reason for all this equipment I flipped early in my career 45 mph mower went 12 feet in the air twice landing on me both times, 4 fractured ribs bruised lung class 4 concusion, bruised hip and couldn't hardly move for a week. Had just the required gear long sleeves gloves helmet neck brace (standard) and long pants. From that point I made sure to have everything I could get that would protect me. Its payed off ten fold.

Not taking a bit away from all the rest you have done, this example of safety first is more important than all the victory laps you have made. Folks could take as much from this as they can and get a tad more protection.  George, do you think we could get another section under the index labeled "Safety Equipment", and maybe how the items are used and what is out there. There are alot of items in that list I have never heard of.

Ouch george seems liek you have had quite the spill there, i have never been that seriously hurt at a race but when it does happen then im out of luck, also im lucky to be 14 years of age and being able to take a bit more of a beatign then you older guys, but young or not safety is the most important thing in any type of racing

being one of the old duffers that's took a few licks... believe me those you bounce up from now, will catch up with you when you get older! As in the same ones!! They have a way of coming back to haunt you too.  :?
