I got some pic's of the start of the tear-down on the 1974 John Deere today, and thought I would share them and to use them for putting it back together.
I lQQked up the info. on this unit and it said it has a peerless 4 sp. with a granny low gear.
I'm really amazed at the size of the head on the engine, I will be rebuilding this one, I don't think the govener is working.
Tomorrow I hope to get more tore down Bob

WOW! That's back when they really knew how to build a mower. If that was mine, I'd probably rebuild it and use it as my home mower. Those old Kohlers were great old engines. Love how it has an automotive coil. I'm interested to see how your restoration comes along.

I got a call today from the person I got this from and they told me they forgot to give me the mowing deck. I think they told me it was a 47 inch 3 blade deck.
I'm going tomorrow to pick it up and I'll post a few pic's of it as well.
