Different sets of Rules
« on: December 10, 2008, 10:16:06 pm »
Hey since the admin. has set up a section for drag racing, I thought it would be a good idea to list some of the orginations rules. That way the admin can see them and see the safety and everything that is involved.

These are the rules and regulations for the Mid West Drag Tractors Association.

http://mwdta.com/08%20Rule's.htm

Please lets show the admin that they didnt waste their time.

I like the safety rules.  Pretty much what we run in drag racing and oval racing in my area.  Many of us down here don't have clutches.  Therefore, we cannot rev engines up at launch, which gives us a slower but safer start.  Throwing it in gear with engine revved would be, well let's just say stupid!  We do require good working brakes.  We allow 10-16 yr olds on the singles, and above 16 in twin classes.  We start most of our kids in the single flathead class.  If they have enough experience, we let them in the single OHV class.  Our drag racing was designed to get these younger kids on mowers, learn the feel and handling of them, before getting to race on an oval at 17 yrs old.  Glad to see this section on the site - Thanks!  TexasMower5

anybody not wearing a neck brace needs to rethink that. I hit the cement face first and neck was never even sore...I tripped in the pits over a jack handle years ago, carrying my neck brace but wearing my helmet, and neck hurt for 3 weeks!
Neck braces are cheap, and one of the best pieces of safety gear out there! Nothing will sideline you in life let alone racing quicker than a neck injury!

off topic but was reading and have to ask.... you ever see a motocross racer with a neck brace? In my younger days a did a bit of it. I find lawn mower racing closer to motocross than kart. Even though you are not "harnessed" in a kart you are shoehorned in with little movement. My experience if you're harnessed in a neck brace is a must. If you have free movement then it can hinder as well as protect. I personally don't like them but I've always been called a No-neck Redneck.

Actually yes motocross racers now have a setup that is part of the upper body protection and also serves as a neck brace. Not sure how it works but it is being used moe and more. And yes mowers do not wreck like a bike. BUT its not our track we gave our opinion and nuff said

TexasMower5

And quite honestly running with no clutch is even more stupid very unsafe and will not be brought up discussed or even considered on this site as have been stated in the past.
