Well today 12/11/2008 I got the tin's blasted .  And took them to the powder coater.  And now while that is being preformed I can spend some time on the engine.

here are a few pic's of today's outing.

 :coolpics:

This pic is of a race car frame he just got done with.

And these are a few of what I got done to engine.   Like rebuilding the starter and the carb.

Thank-you, that is my main objective is to make it one of a kind.  I think it will turn a few head's at the auto show.  Whats left to fix up in this world we live in?  everything else has had it's turn, so now lawntractor's should be next.

Granted this one will never mow another blade of grass, ( it will be able to but it won't ).  It's going to be shown and set in a few show rooms around town here.

I'm tryin to raise awareness to the lawn tractor world and how much fun it could be if givin a chance.

Ok I got all the stuff back, but the top engine cover. Still waiting on that.  So I just got the bent up one on for now to do so more mock-up. the hood is not together yet. And I just set the rear tin's on to see how it's looks.

And I got to drill out the holes and chase all other holes with a tap and die set to cleans them out.

Also I did a little more work to the engine, like a rebuilt starter, and finished the exhaust system

And this is the can of worms I still got to do,  tear down new springs and bushings.  and paint.

How expensive is powder coating versus paint?  Do they use a primer under the powder coat?

I got all of this powder coating done for 60.00 and 40.00 for the sand blasting. once the powder coating is on and dried, I ment baked It is very hard to sand blast it off again and is very hard to chip.

no primer is needed they spray it on and then bake it.   Also there are many colors to pick from.  For racing I think it's the best way to go as far as long lasting.

I got the final part back from the powder coater today,  so i did a little more detail work

And also I found some really kool stuff that would clear up yellowed plastic head lamp len's.
I for got to take a before pic but I had one on the green tractor that was as bad as the one i cleaned on the red tractor.

It's called Blue Magic plastic head lamp restorer.

And I also found a good deal on oil filter's for a Briggs engine.  I got a tractor the other day and it had  WIX oil filter the number was 51056  and I had it crossed and they had a fram it was $14.00  and a STP oil filter that cost $3.58 at Auto zone.  I compared all filter's and the only difference I seen was the color on the filter's.

More pic's to come                                            Bob

Power steering fluid works pretty good too, If you can't find anything else.

oil filters are oil filters, but there is a internal difference. Some of the less expensive filters are very cheap made on the inside.
But if you keep the oil changed often you should be ok.

The mower will be running a lot, the engine was rebuilt last summer. It will be a running trailer queen.
