11HP BLOCK WITH 12HP CRANK AND ROD
« on: June 23, 2006, 10:33:28 pm »
Does anyone know if a 12hp crank and rod fit in a 11hp block.  Would there be any advantage to doing something like this?

It will increase the stroke, but you will need a shorter rod and piston combo or it will push the piston thru the head...

I don't know the numbers off the top of my head, George might...

But it was discussed and I believe the part numbers given in another thread on this forum...

Might have to do a bit of searching, but I'm sure you can find it discussed a time or two...

If I run across it I'll link it here...

There is no shorter rod. If you are going to do that might as well build a 12 thats what you will have if you accompliush what you are speaking of. NOW using a 11 crank in a 12 with a custom longer rod will make a killer short track motor. But you will have to find someone to build the rod for you. Allready seen one of these motors and it rocked on the short tracks.

Why is the shorter stroke engine better on shorter tracks vs. a longer stroke engine?

Technically, a short stroke motor should/will rev up faster...

But a longer stroke makes more torque...
