12.5 kohler to briggs
« on: June 11, 2006, 11:21:02 pm »
Hey guys looking to change the kohler motor on my cutting lawn mower to a briggs.
Only problem is the wiring.
The kohler has a 3 wire regulator and a oil pressure light.
I have the starter working and the kill. but I need to know about the charging and light hook up.
 Can anyone help?
kohler cv12.5s spec no. 1260 ser 2201105564
not worried about the oil light.

the tractor has a kill wire hooked up and working.
A black wire hot all the time. The black wire went to the regulator.
the regulator has 2 wires coming out of the kohler flywheel hooked to it.
If someone can tell me where to find a kohler wiring diagram I can figure the rest out.
The kohler has a hole in the block that is how I bought the mower. Love the briggs motors.
Thanks guys.

well on the briggs motors there should be a red wire coming out from under flywheel near the starter now if that wire has a ''hump'' on it then u can run a wire from that directly to the pos(+) battery terminal and ONLY!!!! if it has this ''hump''(actually a diode)

Man that sounds great, Because the Kohler has a big hole in the side.

If you pick it up just right you can catch all the little pieces of metal that Fall out.  :D

What I did was buy this mower to really cut the grass with. Well the wife does  :woo:
It is a Snapper 1350 LX front motor style.  It was in great shape when I bought it with the exception of the hole in the motor.
So I switched out my motor from my old rider to the Snapper frame.  ;)

The only thing that might be good on the Kohler would be the starter and maybe the carb.
