OHV Question
« on: August 28, 2008, 11:41:20 am »
A friend of mine just picked up an OHV motor he is going to put on his racer. It runs, but has no tins with it. The guy he got it from said it was a 14 1/2, anyways he put tins on it and fired it up. It is running way too lean, so much so that the exhaust pipe was glowing. It has a non-adjustable highside, we tore the carb apart and it looks like the jet runs sideways (it is a Walbro). Do they make a carb like that or have just been breathing too much gas?

Yup. the newer ones. Remove it and get an adjustable needle from George (EC). They come with the bolt that holds the bowl on.

Yup, just make sure you remove the main jet (that screws in from the side)

Hey George, about what kind of price is he looking at to convert the carb over to adjustable as we were discussing in this thread?

Pork Chop,  George has them for about $10.00.  I believe the part number is 100-506.  Just call EC and they'll know what you need.

Do they just screw right in in place of the old jet?

You remove the plug that holds the float bowl on and the new adjuster screw has a fitting that screws into that hole.  Then the adjuster screw can be screwed in to lean it out or backed out to richen the mixture.

The part #100-506, it's a Walbro part and runs about $6 to $7 bucks.
