To run a driveshaft, or to run off a driveshaft...?

And why would you want to do that..?

why dont you get a horizontal motor and then flip the trans so the front is facing down and run it like that?
wide open into the corner, pray to god i make it out

You would have to seal it up quite a bit to keep the tranny from leaking through the seams..

But you could probably use a cub cadet clutch and driveshaft modified to your length to run it...

Find a old Cub Cadet and use the clutch driveshaft out of it.... Takes all the solving and hard thinking out of it.... Just cut the driveshaft to length and make a coupler and you are done...

But like I said earlier... you will probably have leaks.. and I would be concerning about the proper amount of lubricant making it to the gears that would end up on the top...

Laying flat the windage would oil all of the gears.. but I don't think there would be enough windage to spray all the way up the case on the inside..

You mine be able to tap the top and bottom and use a small electric pump to circulate fluid out of the bottom of the case and spray back in the top ( when it is mounted on it's side). You could use a power washer nozzle on the inside of the case to spray the fluid onto the gears and let it trickle down to the bottom bathing the gears...

This is in a mudder so i don't think he will really be going 30mph so grease will sufice in the tranny. Or if it is oil the gears with act like paddle pulling oil to the top of the case.

You could also try running that driveshaft from the cub to a ragb, and have the ragb input on the driveshaft using a coupler and have another coupler underneath on the output going to the input on the top of the tranny. It would take alot of work to make it work right though

You could also try running that driveshaft from the cub to a ragb

That's the best suggestion yet..

Since you'd be using the cub clutch you could run a chain from the RAGB and eliminate the belts. Just use a sprocket on the top of the 820.

Thats alot of work, ive built plenty of mudders and with a properly built clutch you can drive the things underwater for as long as you wont, heck to the point that the motor won't run any more and the belt still grabs. Now i believe Your idea with the cent clutch could work but i don't think it will last very long as a mudder constantly engaging and unengaging. Your best bet is the cub clutch but they are hard to find. Garden tractors usualy make the best mudders, although they can rather be heavy.
