Make sure that if you install a new coil to properly gap it between the coil and the flywheel. A real sloppy, but effective way to do this is to get a nice, new business card, loosen the coil bolts, slide the business card between the flywheel and coil, rotate the flywheel until the magnets on the flywheel sticks to the coil. The business card will be sandwiched between the flywheel and coil. Tighten the bolts, slide the card out. That's your gap.

hey all i'm up and running again had to swap motors out but the new motor is identical turns out i somehow snapped the cam or housing and the cam is in the bottom of the old block

I'd guess; I've never seen a cast iron Briggs come apart.  Seen a couple seize up, but never seen one in pieces

something cause the cam to break everything else it ok
but it made the points stop moving so we tore it down and found pieces of the cam it the base so lotz of fun not paying $100 for new cam
stripping it for parts for new engine
