"new" briggs pistons. Why is it white?
« on: July 11, 2008, 10:33:18 am »
I got a new piston from George the other day. When I opened the box, the piston is white. As in it looks like the thing is made out of porcelain or something. I'm guessing its made out of magnesium or some sort of specialized aluminum alloy. Any reason its white? Just to look purty?

Oh yeah,
Magnesium is highly flammable. That's why old VW engine blocks would occasionally catch on fire.

so they are Magnesium? Interesting. I did notice that the piston is incredibly light. So I look forward to seeing what the performance difference will be.
