intek trouble
« on: July 10, 2008, 09:57:19 am »
I have a 407777 intek engine that at around half throttle it cuts out. It sounds like the valves are floating.I have changed carbs, coils, fuel pump, adjusted the valves.I am out of ideas. has anyone ever had this problem?

If the valves are floating, changing Carb, coil...etc isn't going to help.

RPM's...if your turning it too fast, it's floating the valves.

changed valve springs and that didn't help. i am not sure the valves are floating. could it be i am losing spark at higher rpm's? when the motor cuts out it starts to puff black smoke. checked the plugs and they look sooty black.

Are you running a tach, if not you are guessing. What springs did you change to. If you simply went with new springs you still havn't accomplished anything. If it is stock it will only run so fast period. Reason being is the limitations of the stock cam. could be rich if its puffing black smoke but still need a cam to see where the rpms are when this happens. That will tell alot.
