please explain. if governor is bypassed then i have never seen it.you may have too much carb, causing it to cut back.

Is it like a pop.. like it is cutting spark to keep the revs at one point?

I would say the stock cam only allows it to rev so high and then it falls on it's face...

Have you changed any of the internal components? If not then I would agree with "Squidd". Factory cams are only good for limited operating range, and stock valve springs are usually what limit the RPM band the most.

you could be floating the valves, topping out on the cam, overfueling. my opposed kohler is stock internally and i can tell when it runs out. it will pop and cut up when it gets there.other than that, it runs great. i just set it up to run less than that.

Don't think you can get any performace parts for that engine. I have the same one and id love to run it in c/p but unfortantly. Nobody makes upgrades for the single cyl commands. I think youd could send the cam to precision cams though.

there are tons of performance parts for briggs, but in stock form kohler is a tough engine.
