R&T Racing at Fifield WI 7/5/08
« on: July 06, 2008, 10:44:09 am »
R&T Racing attended the second Fifield WI race July 5th 2008 which was a double feature, double points race; and we could not have asked for a better day as the temp was around 80f and the sky was partly cloudy. The order of event are as follows, one 10 lap heat with a lemans start, one 20 lap A-feature with a lemans start and one 20 lap Main feature with a rolling start.
For this race R&T had Tim running his SP and Robert Running his BP.

SP Heat
Tim was 4th on the grid and when the green flag dropped he ran to his mower and had a great start and was 3rd into corner one, for this race they had the track coned off so there was only one lane to race in however that didn't stop Tim from trying to run two wide at times to try and advance his position. Despite his efforts Tim finished the heat in a respectable 3rd place.

BP Heat
Robert was lucky enough to be placed 1st on the start grid however when the green flag dropped and Robert ran to his mower there were problems with his start putting him out on the track in last place about 1/4 lap down from the rest of the field, still with a single lane to race in Robert was able to finish the heat in 4th place.

SP A-Feature
Tim started 3rd in line and when the green flag dropped and he ran to his mower, had a great lemans start and was out on the track in 3rd. It took Tim 3 laps to secure 2nd place and by the end of lap 4 had moved to 1st and immediately started to give himself a comfortable lead running out in front the rest of the race to a first place finish.

BP A-Feature
Robert started 4th in line and when the green flag dropped he too had a great lemans start and went into corner one passing on the outside on two wheels to move himself into 3rd right away, by the end of the first lap he had moved to 2nd and by the end of the fourth lap he had moved to 1st and proceeded to give himself a comfortable lead to finish the race in 1st place.

OK, now it's time for the Main Feature (rolling start) however there was a twist to this... The officials had decided to flip a coin to decide if they should invert the starting order from the finish of the A-Feature, when the coin flip was over it was declared that the starting line up for the Main would be inverted meaning whoever finished in 1st place for the A-Feature would now start in last place for the rolling start of the Main!

SP Main
With the inverted start Tim was starting in last place on the outside and when the green flag dropped he was hard on the gas and moving himself where he needed to be, sometimes passing on the outside and by the end of lap five he had moved into 1st place where he again managed to put a healthy lead on the rest of the field for a 1st place finish.

BP Main
Because of the inverted start Robert also started in last and when the green dropped he too was hard on the gas and was able to move ahead one spot before the first corner and started to move his way through the pack, by the end of lap 10 he had move into 1st place where he put some space between himself and the rest of the field for a 1st place finish.

Over all Tim finished the day with a big 1st place trophy as did Robert for their classes. None of this came easy as there were some very good drivers with serious horse power under their hoods, my hat is off to all of you for a good day of racing with some very good driving and most importantly everybody having a good time and nobody got hurt!

Now it's time to say thank you.

First and foremost, THANK YOU to all the men and women who serve this great nation past and present for with out them we would not have these freedoms we have that allow us to race lawn mowers.

Of coarse R&T racing thanks the Lord God above for keeping us safe in our travels as well as on the track, we are truly blessed in many ways and for his love and grace we are most thankful!

To the Fifield Fire Dept for hosting the event for the WILMRA and putting together a great track for us to run on, also to the Fifield EMT's for being there in the case we would have needed the.

To the WILMRA, Randy Stys, Shannon Kayhart, the girls in registration, the tech guys Todd and Tim Klimpke and all the other track workers for providing us with one great day of racing!

To our sponsors R&T Racing and G-Team Racing. R&T Racing would not be as successful as we are if it wasn't for the R&T Race Chassis built by R&T Racing using all G-Team Parts and powered by only G-Team Racing motors using G-Team race prepped transmissions to put the power to the ground. Please check us and G-Team out on the web > randtracing.webs.com and G-Team.us

Last but certainly not least R&T Racing would like to say thank you to our families, with out their love and support both at home and at the track we would be nothing!

Well that's it for now, we hope to see you all at the track in the near future.
