17.5 briggs carb problem

i got a tilly 375hl big bore on my 17.5 ohv and when you throttle to the end it does not respond like it should like  it dies down and then it goes after   ,, my other 12 hp got the 56 stamp inside the carb and that won work like it should  good what should i do with my tilly

can somebody help how come my tilly does not respond like it should is the 375hl to big for that motor

need a better discription of what its doing Jamie, If from a dead stop you give it gas and iot noses over then it needs more fuel on low side it its noseing over on high side kinda on and off it's too fat lean it out.

it,s from dead stop fuel i got  lots ,when it idle there lots of orange flame comming out of my pipe the grass catch on fire ,,one thing i don,t no ,,if the muffler mabey to big,, i start with 11/4 is about 12"long ,,after goes up to 3" pipe for 6"long need more,, i will try to tell you more

pipe is way to big, and if you have flames after all that pipe you got valve sealing issue's or even timing issue maybe. Start with low side 1.5 turns out high side 3/4 turn out.
If its been converted to alky you will never lean it out enough for gas.

pure stock reg gas i will change the pipe let you no after it is down thanks great help i got a timming key in stock one

George i just tried it to set it like you sad and it was worst i adjusted them after little bet at the time no different
going to change the pipe just let you no for up date as i am am going thanks

WHERE I said is simply a start point, you adjust one needle at a time only. Starting with low if it won't go adjust till it will take fuel and take off when it hits top end if it shuts off it needs more fuel if it noses and goes over and over its too much fuel

with the big pipe on,, any were i set it does not matter if i shut the low side more idles good better response but not  good gas goes in it stoles when i throttle more heaven if high adjust the high side going to weld a smaller pipe talk to you latter thanks

Sounds like you are trying to run an alky carb on gas and that will bnever work

i both that carb on ebay 375hl big bore it was new ,,should i try to find a smaller carb what kind should i get

its not a matter of smaller or bigger, I run an HR 181 gas carb, you must make sure its set up to run gas, once on alky you cannot go back to gas.
