I have a 303777 and it's a 14hp vtwin, I think briggs just made the motor a bit more efficient and got 16hp out of the same model.

With same moderl #???? They would be the same wouldn't they? Although I haven't seen a 303777 in the 20hp badges!

So would that be 30 cubic inches for EACH cylinder of BOTH cylinders?

then what would give one of these an advantage over a bigger single, like a 31?

more torque. look at a chevy 396 big block compared to a 400 small block. big block has more torque while small block revs more. or better yet, chevy made 305cid 6 cyl. many yrs ago and compared to a 305 v8, the v8 was a weakling compared to the v6.

The model #'s starting with 30 are 16hp engines.......models starting with 29 are 12.5-14hp engines although they are the same cubic inch as the 16hp.  18-20hp engines start with a 35 model #.
