Trust me I drove the Thunder Twin and handles more than well! It will go where you want it when you want it, all you have to do is point it in the right direction and hang on!!!!!!!

You need to adjust the chamber with the wheel turned to the left with the back wheel on a 2 x 4. You adjust both front tires to be flat that way, so you have maximum tire contact with the wheel turned.

This only works on adjustable front axles...

Don't just put chamber in your tractors front end because you see the cup guys do it, they run a sprung front end and as you add load to the right front tire it responds completely different than our unsprung wheel. They deal with dive, spring rates and spring load, sprung and unsprung weight, shock packages and different heights and preload on their springs using jacking screws.

Scrub will exaggerate the push you feel in the turn, so minimizing scrub, increase tire contact, and correct tire pressures will really help the turning force of the front of the tractor..but don't forget bias and cross weight.. as they increase or decrease the loading on the individual tires...

Tire height and rim width will be something to consider when setting camber, because a tall narrow tire on a narrow rim will have more deflection in the sidewall, than a lower wider tire on a wide rim.Watch your tire temperature, hot on one edge may mean that you need an adjustment.

Lol....I think you guys got a little off topic...
I was looking for specific set-up strategies for "L" Spindles.
Was wondering if having the Axle centerline lower than the "spindle centerlin" would effect it.

You guys have given some really good info and I am going to start building next week.
Planning on around 10* KPI , 12* Caster, and the 2X4 trick to set camber. This will not be an adjustable front end so I hope it is close at least. Any way, where I race, even a little bit of engineering will go a long way.
Thanks for all the input and I hope to post a thread when finished.

Lots of info to think about :D

Some say forget the book and go by gut feeling... but I think reading technical articles and posts on the subject from people who have made this work is the best way to learn..

My "gut feeling" is I don't have a clue about setting up a mower...so I'll listen to the experts!
"Read" the tire PSi post, LOL , I've printed it, read it, ate it, digested it and reread it again..that and the EC frontends..great Info

I don't think so. Look out how much lower Ryan's axle is compared to spindle centerline. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r190/fordman21_photos/IMG_0345.jpg

I guess we're talking about 2 different things...
What i am calling the axle is the shaft through the wheel, which is connected to the spindle.
I modeled this today, and verticle placement doesn't matter, the arc is the same.

the shaft that goes through the wheel is your spindle, the shaft that holds your spindle is the kingpin and all that attaches to your axle.

Lol.....thanks, so I guess Spindle  location in reference to King Pin center does not matter.
Is this where I get told I am overthinking something simple...
All this work into a trying to make a junk design work :bash:

I wouldn't say junk... but it does have it's limitations...

I have seem adjustable L spindle set-ups... using a heim joint on the top and near the bottom...

You would want spacers in the middle in between the hemi joint....
