Your build is looking real nice George. Those are currently the best frames out there at the moment in my opinion. That thin wall tubing will be just fine and very stiff once welded in, mowers don't need anything any heavier than that.
One thing I did do to my chassis this year is re-enforce the rear box from the top to as far as I could ahead running down on an angle keeping under the fenders. I found that the rear section did some twisting on a hard packed race track entering the corner.
The step by step build and pics are really nice, keep up the good work! man that machine is going to be a rocket when you get that BIG hp on there.

I'm running 6" Burris wheels all around on mine. You will be very pleased with how that works out if you configure your ratios just right.

George I run one of these on my twin mower it should make a 45* turn.  http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2008052022263065&item=1-2839&catname= It isn't the strongest one I have found though.  On my OHV single I use one of these  http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT?PMPXNO=1871028&PMT4NO=43233602 I have a brand new one of these at the shop it will not make as tight of bend as the first one but it is alot stronger.  I will check tomorrow afternoon to see if the one I have will make a 45* turn.
George I have also seen a few of these on mowers http://www.desertkarts.com/item80856.ctlg  they look pretty stout.

I have ran it over a year now and it hasnt let me down yet.  I do take a old intertube and make me a strip and wrap it around my steering shaft and over my universal to make sure the pins don't fall out of the blocks in the universal.  So far so good.

George the last universal I posted comes off a sand rail.  They are real tough and I think I have seen them make the 45* turn you need.  The only bad thing is you would either have to spline your steering shaft or weld them on to the shaft.  For twenty three buck they are pretty tough
George if you can't get it to turn let me know and I will get you this universal I have.

I have one here with three races on it, it is drilled for 3/4" but I could tig some chrome moly adapters in it to get it down to 5/8" for you and throw it in the box coming your way.   I owe you a favour for the carb remember?

George, why couldn't you weld or attach 2 of them together, like on a front driveshaft for an older 4WD Chevy. Then each one would only have to bend 22.5 degrees. Oh... and I agree with Ryan about the extra square tubing in the rear going down at an angle. Looks like a weak spot. I was going to say something the other day, but I didn't want to say anything on account of you bein Superman and all!

George, if you are still lookin for some knuckles, I may have one for you in the garage. Otherwise I have ordered a complete steering shaft from a yamaha rhino then shortened it to what I needed. This is what I have done on goliath, actually I had to use two shafts. One on top and one on the bottom. Complete shaft is 82.00, but I'll sell one to you for 65.00,plus shipping.I'll check later for the one I have at home and post a pic to see if it will work for ya.
