Intek powered Mini Jeep
« on: May 15, 2008, 01:01:18 am »
Hi guys, I have been a long time reader of the threads here at Heymow, and would like to say thanks for all the info I have gotten over the past several months.  I have been especially happy with all I have learned from George @ EC.  Not only great parts...but great service too!

I am posting some pics for you guys to give me some feedback.  I hope these make it on the board even though I don't race a mower...I have the same powerplant!!!

Started with a 2 x 2 steel chassis.....

Then I ended up with a frame that looked like this.

I use a Vertical Intek 40 CID upfront with a Noram V-belt clutch and roll the belt on its side to drive a jackshaft in the rear.  The jackshaft drives a CVT transmission with hi-lo-and Reverse.

After I had the chassis dialed in, I set out to build a motor that would haul me around.....I have the ARC billet flywheel, ARC rods, HD Starter, Precision Cam, lightly ported/deburred heads, Custom intake with a Mikuni BN carb, removed the gov, added EC springs and retainers, added a tach and rev limiter. oil temp gauge and thats it so far.....

And here it is all done.  We take it to Dumont Dunes in California quite a bit.  Lots of crazy stuff out there too....I recently added a gun rack so my brother and I can do some hunting in it.  Thanks for looking!

Looks great!!   When you get bored of that...yank the engine and you'll have a great powerplant to build a racin' mower!!

I like the Chevy truck with the flames!!!

That is sooooo wicked! Looks like a blast to cruise around on.
I have done so much, with so little, for so long, that I can now do anything, with nothing, all the time!

Very nice work!  How is the twin twisted belt holding up?  Is it hard to keep the belts tensioned the same?

Awesome project!

You can't be serious.  Does it look like he drives it in the mud?
What is it with you kids and the mud?  Have you ever been stuck in the mud?   It sucks!
Do you know what mud does to mechanical parts?  Joints?  Bare metal?

I don't think you would want to sink a bunch of time and money in a project and then go and destroy it in the mud.

Generally the kids don't have to pay for all the tore up parts Paul so they have no concept of the costs.......

I don't take it to the mud...350 days of sunshine around here.  and the dual belts have held up so far.  No problem with the tension.  The motor is on a trolley so it pulls both belts evenly.

Thanks for the props guys!  Much appreciated.
