Fuel Pump???????
« on: April 21, 2008, 03:31:11 pm »
I'm NEW to racing lawn mowers with that said. I tried to hook up a pulse fuel pump on a Briggs 15.5 ohv...I taped in to the Intake for the vacum....but it wants to load the carb up to the point it runs out the air filter?  I wanted to add the pulse fuel pump becuase at higher RPM's while going thru the coners (but not in a striaght line :bash:) it seems to break up as if it was running out of fuel  any help would be great
The group I run with can be found at
www.freewebs.com/nlrc
I'm at work but I can post more Info tonight if needed.
Ps not sure if I put this in the right place.....sorry if I didn't

You cannot simply add a pulse pump you must also add a pump seat. Gravity feed seat and pump seat are different.

Its what the internal needle rests against to stop the flow of fuel when the bowl is full of gas....

:bash: I wish I had know that SATARDAY........I was MAD....Oh well.. So All I have to do is get a seat for the carb and then I can run the pump. I'm guessing that the seat just screws in? And also Does any one think I'm right about running out of fuel at higher RPM"S and going in to the conners hard causeing a lack of fuel do to the gravity feed?

Unless you vented you bowl externally which I am not going to get into how to details, you are flooding out going into the corners hard or even on a rough track since the access fuel dumps straight into the mouth/venturi in stock configuration.

Thanks for the help George  I think I got the whole vent thing figured out in my head. Tonight I'm going to give it a shot........I'm glad I have 8 more carbs in the shop  just in case i screw up a few times. the only thing i'm worried about with the vent .....fuel spillage or do you guys run a tube to a catch can? thats the only part yet that i'm not sure how I'm going to do.

I think I'm going to make a small nipple like the size of grease fitting and run tubing down to my catch can.....well again I thanks George for your help. Wish I had half your knowledge.
