Kohler "62" carb
« on: March 20, 2008, 07:56:30 pm »
I was looking at a Kohler carb today and I thought it said "62" in the top behind the choke plate. Brian Miller doesn't list this carb the best I can tell. According to Mr. Miller's info this should be a 32 M.M. carb which is 1.259 inch. ( 32m.m. devided by  25,4= 1.259 inch ) Is this correct or am I missing something? It does look to be a Carter N with the flat rubber hanging out between the bowl and body. Any help from you Kohler folks about any specs on this carb would be greatly appreciated.     THANKS    johnboy

Your problably looking at it wrong. Backwards possibly. It's more then likely a "26".

I got a chance to look at it again today and it says "64" and the bore on the engine end was 1.200 the best I could measure with a dial caliper.     johnboy

Thats odd. If it measures 1.200 then it must be a #30 carb.

Thank you for your replies. I was thinking the very same thoughts about it. I will take my camera monday and see if I can get a shot to show the numbers and exterior. I do not know much about Kohler but now I am confused more than ever on the carb. BUT at 58 its not as hard to confuse me now as it used to be. Something about short term memor........................... I forgot. LOL    johnboy

Is that a Walbro or Kohler carb? They have different coding...

If it has a non adjustable main jet then it is a Walbro..

It has the top high speed adjustment needle. I am almost posetive it is a kohler / carter carb.  Anyway, it had the 1.200 inch. on the throttle which should make it a "30" I think.  I will probably get it home monday and get pics and all the info I can.   THANK YOU      johnboy

Check out a Kohler book at a small engine shop. It may be off of a twin cylinder flatty from Kohler. Some of the info. on Brian Miller's web site is incorrect concerning the sizes of carbs. used on certain K series engines. He is correct on the #26 being the smaller core, but there were more than 2 different carbs. used on the different sizes of K series engines, the 14,16,18hp. K series singles do not use the same carb. from Kohler. The 18hp. single (K361) had the biggest carb. for the K series singles, and there were three different ones from Kohler for that engine.

I got the same thing... I have a opposed MV18 and the coding in the carb is way different then the coding Brian gives for the K-Series..

But I'm swapping a #26 onto my Opposed so that I have the high speed adjustment ... and it's legal.. the Kohler adjustable carb is in the engine manual... ;D
