RACING LAWN MOWERS APPEARING AT 2008 DUKESFEST
TO DEBUT AT ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY MARCH 7-9

www.dukesfest.com <http://www.dukesfest.com/> ) will announce the return of lawn mower racing to the word's largest event celebrating "The Dukes of Hazzard" TV show scheduled June 28-29 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS), 1500 Highway 19-41, Hampton, GA with an appearance by members of the U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association (USLMRA -

Joining the DukesFest team at two booths on the grounds of AMS will be Bobby Cleveland, America's most decorated lawn mower racer and holder of the World Land Speed Record on a lawn mower, (80.792 mph, Bonneville Salt Flats, 2006) along with members of the Cochran, GA-based Dixie Lawn Mower Racing Association (

"For the first time in thirty years, the 'The Dukes' finally come home and return to Atlanta, Georgia - right where it all began," said DukesFest organizer Elly Schneider, wife of John Schneider who played "Bo Duke" on one of America's most enduring TV shows, "The Dukes of Hazzard." (1979-1985). "So pack up the General Lee and head to 'Capital City' to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Dukes of Hazzard."
The Dixie Lawn Mower Racing Association will mow 'em down at an evening racing exhibition, Saturday night, June 28 and will be on display throughout DukesFest 2008.
DukesFest features carnival rides, autograph lines to meet the cast and crew, General Lee rides, archery shows, musical acts, kid's barnyard (petting zoo), merchandise booths, Dukes Jeopardy, pie eating contest, cast look alike contests, pig plop, Dukes of Hazzard question and answer, a Hazzard County Demolition Derby and a General Lee parade and fireworks. A one day pass purchased online: is $15.00, both days for $25.00. Day of show walk up tickets are $20.00 for one day, both days for $35.00.
The USLMRA was formed in 1992, and nationwide response quickly turned the program into one of America's largest growing grass roots sports. Racers in the STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series travel across the country each season competing for points, trophies, glory and bragging rights. There are no cash prizes. Cutting blades are removed, and a sense of humor is not required, but is encouraged.
