Croccos 08 Super Sportsman
« on: February 27, 2008, 07:54:30 pm »
I'm building a 89 Craftsman 2. Greg (sr71mopar) isn't going to race his mower next year so he donated it to me for it guts. So far i have the frame sandblasted with my peerless 797 and my axle mounted . Progress will be posted as the build goes along.

Here is the frame with 3/4 inch thin wall tubing to stiffen the frame up.

Here is the Peerless 797 And the custom mounting plate.

Here is the rear axle mounted with the transmission.

Hood and fenders

Brakes

Front rims and tires

thats all i got till next time
                                                                                                                             Thanks Corey

Glad to see another Craftsman II being built!!!

One concern is your mounting of the tranny plate. Your picture show the plate being mounted onto the BOTTOM of your rails. This will place the tranny .750" lower than the engine (not on the same plane). As long as you have enough (you should) of the crankshaft extending out of the engine to drop the engine pulley down to "LEVEL" with the tranny pulley, there should not be much of an issue. Just check before you final weld it into place.

Thanks for the advice tom and i do believe it will work cause the last tranny i did was level with the engine mount and i still had a extra 1.25 of adjustment so everything should line up. Goda love them craftsman

Hey Cory,
Glad to see you're making a new mower. and guys- I drove that mower a number of times. It handles insanely well, and honestly, it took a good beating and held up really well with hardly any trouble. Any modifications to it will only make it better. So I'm really interested to see how this one goes. By the way Cory, Kevin said that the first play date will be on April 5th or there abouts. So that's about hoe much time we have to get these done. See you later!-Seth
