Horizontal motor...Vertical rear end

Is it possible to have a horizontal shaft motor with a vertical shaft rear end. I've seen a vertical motor with a horizontal rear end on a simplicity but i dont know how it works. Is there some kinda gearbox that converts it? if so where do u get them?

I dont know about what boxes are availble,But the old simplicities would twist the belt 90 degrees from the motar to the trans.

Look around for old front mounted MTD snow blowers, they usually have something of that nature on them. Vertical input where the belt runs from under the mower out to the blower drive, then it has a chain drive up to the blower. Not sure where else you might find them, have heard some roto-tillers, not sure what application though. They are out there.

You could try http://www.surpluscenter.com/powerTrans.asp?UID=2006042608354687&catname=powerTrans but any added gearbox is more stuff to turn and weight to haul along.  Would it be worth it?
