I have a old craftsman 5 speed 12 hp lawn tractor and i was wondering whats a good pulley setup? i was thinking of just switching the front pulley with the back but would that be to much for the engine to handle?

You actually won't be able to directly swap the pulleys because the shafts that they sit on should be different sizes.

Before you do too much you need to figure out just how big a pulley will fit on the front , those old craftsman mowers don't have alot of room for pulley upgrades without a bunch of modifying, just for starters though you might want to try a 4 inch on the front and maybe a 2 1/2 on the rear. thats a big step up from stock.
