Official Press Release:
MDRA/MNLMRA Lawn Mower Racing Series sets build clinic and Swap Meet featuring '07 National Champion Don Gienger March 1st in Thief River Falls:
Lawn Mower Racing is growing by leaps and bounds around the country and the MDRA is preparing for it's second season by hosting a National Champion to teach local enthusiasts what it takes to be a winner. Don Gienger of Bismarck North Dakota will be in Thief River Falls March 1st as part of a build clinic for those interested in learning how to get started and seeing what it takes to be competitive in the summer MDRA Lawn Mower Racing Series.
Gienger is one of the country's best lawn mower racers. His Bismarck shop, G Team Racing, is the nation's first custom shop dedicated to lawn mower racing engines and component parts. Mower bodies and parts lay around the homemade cam grinder in his garage, and a chalkboard schedule mounted to one of the walls shows how busy he is making parts for other racers.
Gienger founded the North Dakota Lawn Mower Racing Association in 1999 and, since its first race in Mandan, has been the state's most successful racer. This year, he kicked grass on a whole new level. Gienger won the national points championship for his class in the STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series, the lawn mower equivalent of NASCAR's Nextel Cup. He claimed the title at the annual finals during Labor Day weekend in Ohio
Don will cover everything it takes throughout the day March 1st beginning at 9am with "Getting Started" a session on everything from what to purchase, teardown, and getting started on the Lawnmower race machine. Lunch will be served at noon for participants and the afternoon will continue with "Performance & Setup" of your race machine from 1pm to 4pm. The day will be completed that afternoon when Don and other members of the the United States Lawn Mower Racing Association available for a question and answer session as well for participants.
