That is one tool used to do it. Its what I have always used. I have seen some more expensive tools used but the point is is easy clean fast and very doable. Take not much more time than measuring a tire circumferance.

All I know its a tube with graduated marks on it that they screw into the spark plug hole and spin the motor !

whats in there tubes. Seen fluid usually called a watermanometer, seen some with balls, not sure what they call them.

well, if you have a hp rule, that is fixable, if you have a cubic inch rule then, no dice. if its open to ohv then your good to go. buy one, have fun and let us all know how it runs compared to the smaller ohv engines on a comparable mower.
