motor locked?

Hey, this is my first post/thread!  :)

Anyways ive got this ????? pull start and it seems to have locked up or something, ill pull about 4-5 inches of string out and it stops. any ideas of maybe what it may be? should I crack it open?

Pictures would help a lot that way we might know what kind of motor it is, So if you have or can get pictures post them ASAP.

turn the crank by hand.If you cant turn it it is siezed.And if it is seized take the spark plug out and spray wd40 in theere and let it set over night then it should turn the next day.

okay its a Tecumseh. 6hp. it came off a push lawn mower. i can spin the bottom part backwards for a couple turns but then stops.
