pan clearance
« on: September 03, 2007, 08:30:05 pm »
4 months ago I built a motor lasted about 20 laps then  froze up, well this week I tore the motor apart guessing that I spun a rod bearing. Only to find that I did not have enough pan clearance, so what is the proper pan clearance and can I just have the pan machined down to get the proper clearance? Thanks

app. .015 and yes you can machine the center down to gain that. Gasket sets come with different thickness gaskets to help achieve this also.
