just pulled the cam on my 691
question is do i need to put the compression release mechanism back in
or wont the starter turn it without
will the mechanism hold together with the extra rpm it just looks kinda wimpy

remove it or it will sling aprt and you will have bigger problems.

also is there a different starter to use on this motor like with the briggs or is the stock one fine with the extra compression

unless you cut the heads .145 your stock starter will do just fine.

And the stock starter is your only option available. They don't make the high torque like the briggs anymore.
