Find where the sending unit is on the engine. It will most likely be a threaded sensor. You can then unscrew it and thread in a oil line fitting and plumb it up to the gauge.

What type of engine is it? (model # as well)...We can then help you locate the sending unit.

It will probably be by the oil filter. That is where it is on my Opposed.

A simple oil "pressure" gauge requires no power, it works strictly on oil pressure.

If you run a digital pressure gauge, yes you'll need power.

If the gauge is equipped with a light, you will of course need power to that, IF you want to see it in the dark.

Also get the copper oil pressure line, seems to hold up a little bit better.

I'm using a nice and flexable stainless steel -3 line for my gauge. I'd be scared to run copper (or any hard line for that matter). The vibrations that the mowers sustain during racing will eventually fatigue the hard line and crack it.

How else can you read oil pressure without a gauge???

If you do not want to mess with running oil lines to a mechanical pressure gauge, you can install an electrical version that uses a sending unit to electrically show you the oil pressure.

I haVE broken more copper lines than I care to due to vibration. I use the cheapo plastic that comes with the 9 dollar gauge and have had no more problems.

Has to have a gear type pump to have pressure and if it has that it will have a filter also.
