Another tacho question
« on: March 08, 2006, 02:15:15 pm »
Hi all,

Does anyone know of a suitable tacho for a Kohler single cylinder unit. I'm looking for a "proper" tacho with a scale and a needle in it - not one of these new fangled digital things!

I've seen some auto type ones but not for a single cylinder - I read somewhere that they will give the wrong reading on a single and I don't really want to stick a home made scale on it so it reads right!!

Any ideas/pointers?

Stig I believe the Jr dragster Tach made by Auto Meter offered by www.arcracing.com would do just fine. It is a real time and wroks very well I have used it on briggs and tecumseh single and twins. If twin it has to have two seperate coils and you tie into one and diode isolate so you won't get any feed back from the second that creates erratic readings. I have also seen it used on a Honda. I do know it had to be re-calibrated for the honda it fired a bit different than the briggs it was designed for.
