cleaning a carb
« on: July 06, 2007, 03:25:42 pm »
i heard from one of my old friends that if you fill a little bucket with 20-50 motor oil and let a carb sit in it it will take all the dirt right out of it after that then you gotta let it soak in gas then sun dry. Did eny ever hear of this because i tried it on one my briggs and now the engine runs great.

Never heard of that!!!

I just take them apart, clean orifices with a pieace of wire, spray clean with a can of carb cleaner, a little compressed air and WALA...10 minutes later the carb is as good as new!

I used to use wire until i read in the briggs service manual and i had a tech guy tell me not to use wire just air and carb cleaner.
