Determining Belt length

After adding on new pulleys how do i determine the new belt size? Guess n check? or what

i took a piece of 1/2 inch rope and ran it around all the pulleys, marked how long it was, and got a belt that long. mine does just fine.

Recommended method is to take a new belt, (NOT one of them red bullet proof hummers, but a new cheap belt), wrap it through the pulleys, and cut it to fit precisely... then measure it.

I use a simple setup like Rocky said I have a very long belt that is cut in two and has a hose clamp on it , put it on the pullies and adjust to fit with the hose clamp in a open area .
This should get you real close .

That is what I do. Make sure that your clutch is fully engaged and pull the belt tight
