Fire slot

I see that some people are putting fire slots in their head, why is that?

it helps deliver the spark i hear
i dont think it gains any performance though

The fire slots are only used in the flat head engines and it does just what it sounds like helps bring the fire over top of the piston,because the spark plug is at the side of the cylinder.

This is only applicable to flathead engines, and it directs a path for the flame to travel over.
